Raccoon Control
PROVIDING HUMANE AND PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS FOR RACCOON REMOVAL FROM HOMES AND BUSINESSES SINCE 2011
Where do raccoons live? The raccoon is, bar none, the most cunning and adaptable species that we encounter regularly in Central Virginia. Raccoons are extremely opportunistic feeders and comfortable in urban and suburban environments. They hunt, scavenge, and raid in and around trash cans, dumpsters, and agricultural bins. The raccoon population in urban/suburban areas like Richmond, Charlottesville, Blacksburg, etc. far exceeds that of the population in traditionally thought of habitats. They have successfully turned suburban sprawl into an ideal habitat for themselves that allows for a much larger carrying capacity than natural environments. In addition to large food supplies, raccoons also have an endless array of denning locations due to their ability to climb just about anything, from trees, to gutters, to chimneys. They also have the distinct ability to rip through gable vents, ridge vents, soffit lines, and invade chimneys.

Raccoon Damage
OUR RACOON REMOVAL AND CONTROL WILL FIX YOUR CURRENT PROBLEM AND PREVENT FUTURE ISSUES.
Do raccoons cause damage? Yes. In our years of performing raccoon evictions in Central Virginia, we have seen raccoons rip open crawlspace doors, tear down soffit lines, remove louvers from gable vents, peel back ridge vents, enter chimneys, open and close roof returns, enter under bay windows, and even go through pet doors—all of these issues required raccoon-proofing the problem areas after removing the raccoons.
Raccoons are a latrine species, which means that they return to the same area over and over to defecate, so from a zoonotic disease standpoint, they are one of the biggest carriers of roundworm. To avoid lingering eggs, we address roundworm issues with steam or high heat once the raccoons are no longer present.
Raccoons are also one of the most destructive species when it comes to lawns, commonly peeling back sod to find grubs. They can destroy entire lawn areas in a single night.
Raccoon Removal
BLUE RIDGE WILDLIFE & FISHERIES MANAGEMENT PERFORMS RACCOON CONTROL IN A NUMBER OF WAYS.
How does raccoon trapping and removal work? If raccoons are outside of your home or business, we can set professional-grade traps with specially formulated baits to trap and remove the raccoons from your property. If the raccoon conflict you are having is inside your home, we can trap and remove, deter them out of your attic or crawl space, or “one way” them. Once the raccoon eviction is complete, we provide services to “raccoon proof” your home to prevent this from happening in the future. If the raccoons have created a latrine in your attic or crawlspace, we can perform remediation services to remove the latrine.
