Fish Stocking

It is important to remember that a pond is an ecosystem in itself, one that needs to be properly balanced and maintained. One of the main causes of a declining ecosystem in pond management is the misappropriation of its fish populations. This is why we take population evaluation and control very seriously at Blue Ridge Wildlife & Fisheries Management, LLC. Our fisheries biologist will make sure to help you in making important decisions concerning which species of fish you would like to stock, along with helping educate you on proper harvesting techniques to ensure your fishery will be long-lasting. Before stocking is done, your pond will be thoroughly evaluated for poor water chemistry, temperature, erosion risks, and aquatic vegetation risks based upon the particular species our fish suppliers will stock. For instance, if you have a pond you wish to stock with trout, and your core temperatures are not low enough to sustain a population of trout year-round, we will make sure to only offer you limited fall stocking or chiller installation in advance of stocking.
